WORLD SOIL DAY CELEBRATION, Degapela, Dagana

This year, Bhutan joined global community worldwide to celebrate world soil with NSSC, DOA scheduled at Dagapela, Dagana with the theme “Caring for the planet starts from the ground” on 5th December 2017. The main objective of the celebration was to highlight the importance of soil as critical component of natural ecosystem and as a vital contributor to food, water and energy security and also as a mitigation of biodiversity loss and climate change.

Dasho Drangpon was the Chief Guest for the day. Other dignitaries present were Lam Neten of Dzongkhag Rabday, Dasho Dzongrab, RBA Dasho Major, DT chairman, Gups and farmers of 11 Gewogs, Sector Heads and Gewog RNR staff. Soil improved technologies and agriculture technologies were exhibited jointly by NSSC, NPPC, NoP, ARDC, FMCL and Dzongkhag Extension.

ARDC, Bajo took active part with display of soil related technologies in form of posters, improved seeds and seedlings, vermicomposting, green manuring (dhaincha) seed, legumes and pluses with technical backstopping.

Almost about 500 people witness the event and it was appreciated by the participants and guests.
