The new recruits of 2018 for Department of Agriculture visited ARDC Bajo on 23rd January, 2018. The program started with introduction session for the new recruits and the presenter Mr. Mahesh Ghimiray, the Rice Specialist. It was followed by presentations on different topics. The first presentation, a brief introduction to history on Agriculture Research in the country, highlighted the establishment of RARS Bhur (1967) for wheat research, RARS Kanglung (1979) for rice and potato, ARC Ysipang (1981) for potato program, and the CARD (1982), CHIP Mithun (1986), ARC khangma (1988) for maize, rice, wheat and mustard, and gradually establishment of Research Centers and change in names of the RCs followed by addition of Development mandate in the recent years. The second presentation was on introduction to national & regional mandates of the ARDC Bajo along with brief information on the activities of the different sectors in the center and some success stories of the center.
After the presentations, the group was taken for field visit. At the fields, Mr. Tashi Phuntsho and Mr. Arjun Kumar Ghallay explained on different activities for Fruits and Vegetables. The program ended by congratulating and wishing them for successful carrier by the ARDC Bajo team.
