The Plant Protection (PP) Unit under the Technical Support Services (TSS) ARDC Bajo, is conducting a survey to assess farmers’ perceptions and decision-making practices regarding pesticide use across all gewogs of Wangdue Phodrang and Punakha Dzongkhags.
The survey in Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag covered a total of 221 farmers, who were randomly selected from the respective gewogs. The number of respondents from each gewog was determined proportionately based on the total number of households to ensure adequate representation across the dzongkhag.
Following the completion of the survey in Wangdue Phodrang, the team will commence the survey in Punakha Dzongkhag. The survey will cover all gewogs of Punakha, with respondents selected using a similar approach to ensure representative coverage.
The survey aims to generate information on farmers’ perceptions, knowledge, practices, and decision-making processes related to pesticide use. The findings will provide useful insights for strengthening farmer awareness, promoting the safe and judicious use of pesticides, and supporting evidence-based agricultural extension and advisory services.
The survey is part of the PP Unit’s efforts to better understand farmers’ practices and challenges related to pesticide use and to strengthen technical support and advisory services for safe and sustainable crop production.
