Visit by the Chief of Agriculture Research and Innovation Division

The Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC) Bajo had the honour of welcoming Mr. Saha Bir Rai, the newly appointed Chief of the Agriculture Research and Innovation Division (ARID) under the Department of Agriculture, on 19th September 2025. The program began with a traditional Tashi Khader session to extend warm congratulations, followed by an interactive discussion with the researchers and staff of the Centre.

During the discussion, the Chief emphasized the importance of strengthening commodity programs and projects, highlighting that innovation should not be limited to technology generation but also encompass new ways of thinking. Touching upon the importance of outreach, he noted that many of the sector’s achievements and field-level data are not communicated effectively in forums such as the Variety Release Committee (VRC). Bridging this communication gap, he stressed, is essential to ensure that valuable work and results are recognized.

The Chief further pointed out the need for prioritizing activities as per the 13th Five Year Plan, especially in light of reduced staff strength and increasing responsibilities. He called for enhanced collaboration and active participation in various committees and forums such as the Research Management Committee (RMC).

The visit was concluded with field tour to some of the important on-station activities.
